October 2nd, 2013:

Thanks to all who came out for our annual Paddle Day! We enjoyed brats, burgers, chips, and frisbee while getting some warm-weather paddling in on the shores of Lake Mendota. Both new and old members got their feet (and ankles) wet trying out both concrete canoes, as well as fiberglass prototypes. If you couldn't make it but still want to get out on the water, talk to one of our paddling captains!

New members paddling for the first time in 2011's "Aurora"

June 24th, 2013:

Congratulations to the 2013 National Concrete Canoe Competition winners; École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS). ETS placed first with 64 points, followed by the University of Nevada-Reno (61.5), University of Florida (60.5), Cal Polytechnic San Luis Obispo (57.5) and Utah State (57.5). Unfortunately, inclement weather affected the sprint races of the competition and they were not held this year.

Further congratulations to the Great Lakes representatives; the University of Evansville with a 10th place finish and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign at 22nd. Thanks go out to Illiniois for hosting a great Nationals competition; we here at Wisconsin-Madison are looking forward to competing there for Regionals in 2014.

Complete results can be found here.

Additionally, a nice piece by the New York Timeson Concrete Canoe.

Tonight (June 24th) we are moving Pyramidion from the trailer into ECB. If any members are available to help, assistance would be appreciated! Additionally, timing is set for Friday at 5pm to take Pyramidion onto Lake Mendota for the first time to see how she handles in the water. Come check it out!

Looking foward to next year,

On Wisconsin!

Hopefully everyone's finals went well or are going well! We hope everyone has a great summer, wherever you spend it! Good luck with any internships or summer classes. As noted previously, there are several social gatherings that are happening over the summer. These include traveling to Nationals at the University of Illinois, our camping trip, as well as spontaneous summer kickball and possibly other social events. Check the Facebook page for more frequent updates.

If any incoming engineers want to visit and see the canoe during SOAR or any other event, feel free to email one of the co-chairs!
