What: Cardio/weight training for those interested in trying out for a paddling spot, or are just looking to get in shape!

What: Updates the spring schedule for the canoe and for all side projects.

What: Practice for those interested in trying out for one of the competition paddling spots.

What: Learn your Placement Day roles and prepare for the creation of our concrete canoe!
Placement Day:

What: Come down and help the team place the 2012 concrete canoe entry. All help is appreciated, talk to the co-chairs to find out how you can participate!
Friday Mix Day:
When: Every Friday during the fall semester at 1:00pm
Where: B1082 Engineering Centers Building
What: Mix some concrete and get your hands dirty.
Friday Test Day:
When: Every Friday during the fall semester at 11:00pm
Where: Structures Lab, E-Hall
What: Test concrete cylinders/plates made from previous weeks.
Paddle Day!!
When: Sunday, September 25th at 11:00am-3pm
Where: Lot 60
What: Paddle in our concrete canoes and enjoy a beautiful day on Lake Mendota while socializing with current members and alumni. Treat yourself to brats/hot dogs/burgers made from Grillmaster Reid.
Last Year:
6/20/11 - The University of Wisconsin - Madison Concrete Canoe Team finished 2nd overall at the National Concrete Canoe Competition in Evansville, Indiana this past weekend. Though race day had plenty of rain, it was still a great weekend with a lot to be proud of.
This wouldn't have been possible without the help and support from out sponsors. Additionally, congratulations to Cal Poly - SLO on defending their national title. Thank you also to the University of Evansville for doing a great job hosting. Over the next couple of weeks we will continue to reflect on the success that is ELEMENT, while looking forward to the coming year.

4/4/11 - The University of Wisconsin - Madison Concrete Canoe Team has finished first at the Great Lakes Regional ASCE Conference at UW-Milwaukee. The team will travel to Evansville, Indiana this June for the 2011 National Concrete Canoe Competition.
Thanks to all our supporters! We could not have done it without you. Here is a photo of our 2011 entry: ELEMENT. We will post more photos as we accumulate those taken at regionals and those to be taken at the NCCC!
2/16/11 - With some warmer weather the practice canoes have been uncovered from the snow and the team is out on the Yahara River. The canoe is in the final stages of shaping and inlays and aesthetic finishing work will begin soon.

2/2/11 (Snow Day) - A lot of work has been done since the semester has begun. The exterior of the canoe is being finished and before long the interior will be finished as well. If you care for an adventure, come through the snow drifts for some work in the lab. The Co-Chairs will be in every night this week, and Friday afternoon as always!
If you're new to the team, come on down and see this years canoe and learn what the team is all about!
General Meeting:
When: Thursday, Feb. 3rd, 7pm
Where: 1055 ECB
What: Catch up on the last two weeks of work on the canoe and what needs to be finished before Regionals. (Want to learn about the stands and display, come at 6:15 to discus more at the canoe office.)
1/18/11 - We will be having our first team meeting this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in 1045 ECB. We will go over what needs to be done this semester for the canoe.

11/11/10 - Stop down this Friday for work day at 2pm! The team is hard at work preparing the mold for our December placement day. Thanks to everyone that has been working so hard in our mix design and prototype construction this fall.
Display materials, aesthetic design, and mold construction design teams are hard at work. Interested in helping out or want to know more about the team? Email canoe@cae.wisc.edu or stop by the canoe lab!
9/24/10 - Every Friday there will be Testing from 12-1:30pm in the structures lab(wear pants and closed-toed shoes!), and Mix Day from 2-5pm in the canoe lab in B1082 ECB(learn how to make concrete!).
General Meeting-Theme Voting:
When: Thursday, October 14th at 7:30pm
Where: Tong Auditorium in Engineering Centers Building.
What: Keep up with what the team has been up to the last two weeks and vote on your favorite theme to decide what the 2010 entry will look like!

9/24/10 - With the rules out, we are on our way for mix design and the team is hard at work planning new construction techniques and theme aesthetics for the 2011 Canoe. Every Friday there will be Testing from 12-1:30pm in the structures lab, and Mix Day from 2-5pm in the canoe lab in B1082 ECB.
Paddle Day:
When: Sunday, September 26th at 1-4pm
Where: Lot 60 out near picnic point and UW-Hospital.
What: Grilling out and canoeing with the team, anyone interested is welcome to attend, no canoeing experience required!

9/9/10 - Rules for the NCCC are slated to come out next week. Look for more projects and team paddle day to be announced soon.

9/1/10 - The school year has begun and the team is anxiously waiting for the 2011 Concrete Canoe Competition Rules to be posted. The team will have Friday mix days once the rules are posted and have a couple social events coming up!

The paddlers and cochairs will be taking the canoes out on Lake Mendota with some guests and anyone who is interested is welcome to join us and cheer on some races. No food for this one, but look for a cookout paddling afternoon later this semester!
