Overall 1st Place at Nationals in Washington D.C. Ten months of hard work culminated with twenty-two teams competing at the 2003-2004 National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC) in Washington, D.C. on June 17th-June 20th. The competition was as fierce as ever with no clear victor until the end. Balance proved to be key. Our only first place came in the Women's Sprint race (the race that motivated our women to practice outside in the blistering cold of February in Wisconsin), but we placed either second or third in all other categories except for an unfortunate incident in the Women's Endurance race. The University of Wisconsin-Madison is proud to take home the National Championship for the second straight year becoming the fourth team to do so in the 17 year history. It will be up to a new generation to continue the success... 2004 Nationals Results: (for scoring breakdowns on all the teams see... http://www.ces.clemson.edu/~canoe/canoe2004/Scoring/2004_NCCC_Scores.htm ) Overall: 1st Place (86/100 points) Races: 3rd Place (21/25 points) Men's Sprint: 3rd place Men's Endurance: 3rd Place Women's Sprint: 1st Place (Best Ever!)
